About The Institute
The Institute for Bioenergy Studies (IBS) is a center dedicated to the teaching of Esoteric Healing.

IBS is a Michigan corporation located in Okemos, Michigan since 1993. Prior to 1993, we were a study group for Esoteric Healing that began our first Esoteric Healing class in 1986, as taught by Brenda Johnston and several other teachers from England. We became Esoteric Healing practitioners dedicated to anchoring Esoteric Healing in the Lansing community via Esoteric Healing treatments and eventually our work led to a funded research project through Michigan State University that resulted in a published article in a refereed journal.
In 1993, Dr. Barbara Briner formed and incorporated “The Institute for Bioenergy Studies” which is still in its original location. Classes are held in our beautifully comfortable classroom, which faces South (gets Sun!) and looks out on lovely tall pine trees. Since 1993, this appealing classroom has been used only for spiritually focused courses, group meetings, and many, many powerful meditations.
